On the Internet no one can hear you scream.
I didn't keep a diary as a child because I was concerned that someone might discover it and read my secret thoughts. 20 years later, the perfect solution has been developed: if you post in a blog on the Internet you can be virtually certain no one will read it.
The title of this blog is a reference to Dirk Gently's belief in the "Fundamental interconnectedness of all things".
And so it's surely appropriate to close by recording for posterity the text of a small slip of text I found in my letterbox a couple of months back, and rediscovered on my desk today:
Dear Beautiful Person,
The world would be a different place if you didn't
exist. Your beauty graces the lives of others
around you and brightens people's days. You are a
delight to the people you know. If you weren't
around somebody's life would be radically
changed, so since you're here take the opportunity
to change a life. Your life may not always be a
picturesque scene from the movies but use this to
your advantage and make your own movie.
"Transforming lives by giving ourselves away"
I've no idea where it came from, or why it was put in my letter box. But it brightened my day then, and now. Thank you whoever put it there.
