Regards The Anti-Spam Unit Department of Internal Affairs I am an Air New Zealand Airpoints member; this was sent to that email address. I am certain that I did not opt in to receiving "Special Offers", and that I took advantage of every "opt out" option to avoid receiving marketing junk mail from them. This is the first email to arrive; I assume they created another mailing list. I attempted to unsubscribe both last night and today, using the "click here" link behind: Click here to unsubscribe or update your preferences. which was: http://links.digitalcomms.airnz.co.nz/ctt?kn=23&ms=MTUyMjgzS0&r=NDU0NTUwNDIxOAS2&b=0&j=MzgwMDEzNDE5S0&mt=1&rt=0 Both times that has simply resulted in a report that the "service is unavailable": -=- cut here -=- Service Unavailable The system is currently not available. Please try again later or call our Air New Zealand Contact Centre for assistance. REF: 021-VP-161004-084948-105-805 -=- cut here -=- From this I conclude that Air New Zealand is sending bulk email: (a) to people who did not subscribe (and/or opted out); and (b) does not provide a working subscription facility both of which are a violation of New Zealand law. Ewen Further to my complaint MFQTHXT5, just filed, I have double checked my Air New Zealand Airpoints Profile and as I remembered it showed: -=- cut here -=- Special offers. Be among the first to hear about the latest offers via email from Air New Zealand. Yes please No thanks -=- cut here -=- with "No thanks" already ticked. I have a screen shot of that. So Air New Zealand appear to have deliberately sent it to New Zealand addresses that indicated that they did *not* want to receive their Special Offers, ie opted out. Ewen
